Javonte Williams ran for 98 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, but the Dallas Cowboys lost 34-31 to the Baltimore Ravens at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã. The game, the NFL’s first in Rio, drew an announced crowd of 72,792. The defeat left Dallas at 1-2, while Baltimore improved to 2-1.
The Cowboys overcame an 11-point deficit and led 28-24 in the fourth quarter after Dak Prescott’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson, a two-point conversion caught by CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin’s 9-yard scoring run. Baltimore reclaimed the lead when Lamar Jackson connected with rookie tight end Matt Hibner for a 2-yard touchdown with 1:30 remaining.
Prescott then moved Dallas into field-goal range, and Brandon Aubrey’s 23-yard kick tied the score at 31 with seven seconds left.
Jackson completed 15 of 20 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, while Derrick Henry had two rushing scores on 26 carries for 89 yards. Jackson found Zay Flowers for 27 yards before Baltimore called timeout with one second remaining. Loop then made the winning 56-yard field goal as time expired.
Prescott finished 25 of 40 for 276 yards and a touchdown, and Lamb caught seven passes for 112 yards.
