Rakell Decides It

Rickard Rakell scored the deciding shootout goal, lifting the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026. The Penguins prevailed at PPG Paints Arena after the teams finished regulation tied 1-1.

Rakell’s wrist shot was the final goal listed in the shootout. Pittsburgh also got shootout goals from Ben Kindel and Sidney Crosby, while Dallas received shootout goals from Tyler Seguin and Wyatt Johnston.

Scoreless Start, Busy Third

Neither team scored in the first or second period. Pittsburgh opened the scoring in the third when Connor Dewar put the Penguins ahead 1-0 with a backhand goal. Blake Lizotte assisted on Dewar’s goal.

Dallas answered in the third period to tie the game. Seguin scored on a tip-in, with Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen assisting. Seguin finished with one goal and one point for the Stars, while Heiskanen had one assist.

The 1-1 score held through the remainder of regulation. The period-by-period scoring was Dallas 0, 0, 1, 0, 0 and Pittsburgh 0, 0, 1, 0, 1, with the final column reflecting the shootout result.

Dewar led Pittsburgh with one goal and one point. Lizotte recorded one assist for the Penguins.
