Both sides of the Grayson-Collin county line are included in a flood watch that could complicate travel around Van Alstyne from Wednesday afternoon through early Friday.
The National Weather Service has set the watch from 4 p.m. Sept. 30 to 7 a.m. Oct. 2. Slow-moving showers and storms may produce 2 to 4 inches of rain across the watch area, with localized amounts of 4 to 6 inches.
The watch describes possible flooding from excessive rainfall, particularly around creeks, streams, low-lying ground and low-water crossings. It does not mean every road will flood, nor does it confirm a local closure.
For Van Alstyne residents moving between nearby communities, check the location of any later warning rather than relying only on a county name or a regional forecast. Conditions can change along a route, and rainfall totals will vary.
