Van Alstyne, Texas — Gas prices in the Sherman-Denison area averaged $3.4274 per gallon for regular unleaded on August 9, 2026, according to AAA, down from $3.4489 yesterday. That is down from $3.5071 a week ago and higher than $3.3250 a month ago.
The statewide average in Texas stands at $3.5569, while the national average is $4.0121. Drivers in the Sherman-Denison area are paying below the state average and below the national average.
The Sherman-Denison average remains below its AAA recorded high of $4.8150. Regular prices are about 10 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $2.5961, drivers are paying about 83 cents more per gallon.
