The game remained tightly contested through seven innings before Houston found its offensive rhythm. In the eighth inning, Yordan Alvarez tripled to right field, driving in Carlos Peña to give the Astros a 7-6 lead. Alvarez later scored on a single by Alex Bregman, extending the advantage to 8-6.
