VAN ALSTYNE, Texas — The Van Alstyne Public Library is in the final stretch of a months-long interior renovation, with a grand reopening date set for July 11, library officials announced this week.
The project, which began in November, has refreshed the library's interiors from top to bottom, adding new meeting rooms, study rooms, and updated furnishings designed to keep pace with the city's rapid growth. Library services continued throughout the closure through temporary arrangements.
"We needed our library to match the caliber of services and programs that we were offering," said Library Director Judy Kimzey. "As our community grew, the demand for services doubled, and tripled in many cases."
The renovation addresses years of wear on a facility that serves as one of the city's most heavily used public spaces. New LED lighting, fresh flooring, updated ceiling tiles, and a full interior repaint are among the improvements completed during the closure. The additional meeting and study rooms respond to consistent requests from patrons seeking quiet workspace and small-group gathering areas.
