The Van Alstyne Independent School District (VAISD) Board of Trustees voted 7-0 on Monday night to update local board policy, moving regular monthly meetings to the second Monday of each month. The board stated the change is intended to reduce scheduling conflicts with district events and holidays.
Under the new schedule, regular board meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the VAISD Board Room. The board will then move into Closed Session, with Open Session resuming immediately afterward, typically around 7:00 p.m. Residents wishing to participate in the Public Comment portion of the meeting are asked to submit their comment cards by 6:45 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
Of the regular meetings initially scheduled under the new calendar, only the October meeting required a change, moving to a Thursday. The board noted that meeting dates and times are subject to change. Residents are advised to check the VAISD Facebook page or the Board of Trustees webpage for the latest meeting information.
