Joe Milton demonstrated his skills during the Dallas Cowboys' 34-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals, contributing significantly to his bid for the backup quarterback position. Milton completed 9 of 13 passes for 176 yards, including a notable 53-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Mingo and a 70-yard connection with Camden Brown that led to his own 1-yard rushing touchdown.

The Cowboys took a commanding 24-6 lead by halftime, with Jaydon Blue adding 75 rushing yards on 15 carries. Sam Howell, who is also vying for the backup role, completed 7 of 10 passes for 65 yards in the second half but was intercepted in the end zone.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that while Milton's performance was strong, the competition for the backup spot remains open.

Defensively, the Cowboys excelled early in the game, highlighted by cornerback Shavon Revel's interception of Gardner Minshew. The Cardinals faced their own challenges, including two touchdowns negated by penalties. Injuries affected both teams, with Cardinals safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson and Cowboys safety Julius Wood leaving the game due to injuries.

As the Cowboys prepare for upcoming training camp sessions, Milton's performance continues to bolster his chances for a spot on the roster.
