A football player from Texas Christian University (TCU) was hospitalized for three days after suffering a brain bleed due to an alleged assault by a teammate. The incident took place on August 13 in the locker room, where former TCU safety Jacob Fields is accused of punching wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the forehead and kicking him in the head.

Ezukanma was later diagnosed with a brain bleed, a concussion, and a strained AC joint.

Fields has been dismissed from the team and surrendered to law enforcement on Sunday. An arrest affidavit revealed that Ezukanma believed the altercation arose from competition during practice, suggesting that Fields felt threatened by his performance.

Following the incident, Ezukanma received text messages from Fields expressing remorse, in which he mentioned, "I made an emotional decision because of how I felt played the last few practices" and offered to pay for Ezukanma's hospital expenses.

Ezukanma's family reported that he is recovering and looking forward to returning to play after receiving medical clearance. His sister, Emelie Ezukanma, highlighted the need for accountability in this matter. Meanwhile, TCU is managing the situation while concentrating on the team's performance, having recently experienced a loss in their first game of the season.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes remarked on the team's resilience in dealing with distractions.

A representative for Fields indicated that he is seeking legal representation and will allow the legal proceedings to unfold, suggesting there will be an opportunity to clarify the facts surrounding the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as TCU continues its season.
