The Dallas Cowboys could be missing four defensive players when they play the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 27. Cornerback Cobie Durant is dealing with a hamstring strain, while safety PJ Locke tore the plantar fascia in his foot.
Both are expected to miss multiple weeks, and coach Brian Schottenheimer said Dallas has not decided whether to place either player on injured reserve.
Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who has a hamstring strain, and safety Malik Hooker, who has a broken forearm, also have not been cleared to return after missing the game against Washington. Schottenheimer said the shorter week could make their statuses harder to determine. The Cowboys’ first official injury report is due Sept. 23.
Dallas is scheduled to leave Sept. 24 on a 10-hour flight to Rio de Janeiro.
Schottenheimer said the team could use other players, including adjustments in the secondary. Linebackers Jaishawn Barham and Dee Winters are doing well after dealing with a stinger and shoulder issue, respectively, and might not be listed on the injury report. Owner Jerry Jones said his remark, “There is nothing more dangerous than an old man with money,” referred to possible football-related additions.
