In a recent volleyball match against TCU, Abby Vander Wal, an outside hitter for the Texas Longhorns, left the game due to a knee injury. The incident took place during the opening set when Vander Wal fell while scrambling on the left side of the court and remained down, visibly in pain as she clutched her knee.
Training staff assisted Vander Wal off the court, as she was unable to put weight on her leg. She did not return for the remainder of the set, which the Longhorns won by sweeping TCU. Prior to her exit, Vander Wal had made two kills and her topspin serve contributed to two scoring runs for Texas.
Details regarding the severity of her injury have not yet been disclosed, and the situation is still developing.
