TCU’s 21-13 loss to Central Florida in Orlando left the Horned Frogs 2-2 and 0-2 against Power Four teams. The defeat was the Big 12 opener for both programs. TCU was penalized 11 times for 86 yards, finished with two fewer turnovers than UCF and managed 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.
The outcome changed the outlook for the Oct. 3 home matchup with No. 9 BYU. TCU had hoped to open 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth, but the team is averaging 11.5 points per game after its first month.
Jaden Craig, an offseason transfer from Harvard, remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel. Craig’s two games against North Carolina and UCF produced 485 passing yards on 72 attempts, with 45 completions, two interceptions and no touchdowns. He also has 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing statistics.
The report said Craig has received limited help from his receivers and has struggled when pressure disrupts the pocket. Schobel had no freshman-season appearances in 2025 and has thrown once this season.
A change would also involve compensation because Craig signed with TCU for more money than Schobel. TCU could keep Craig against BYU, while Schobel’s first start could come at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week.
