Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham provided one of the Dallas Cowboys’ brighter moments in their loss to the Baltimore Ravens, stopping two runs during the fourth quarter. His fourth-down goal-line stop of Derrick Henry returned the ball to Dallas with the Cowboys three points behind.
Dallas ultimately fell on the game’s final play in Brazil and is now 1-2. In the late scoring opportunity, the Cowboys did not give running back Williams a rushing attempt. The sequence instead included two incomplete passes, a Dak Prescott scramble and a false-start penalty against Terence Steele.
Blogging The Boys cited analysis questioning the choice, noting Dallas still had a timeout. The coaching staff has faced criticism following each of the team’s two defeats, while Brian Schottenheimer’s work as offensive play-caller and his hiring have also been questioned. Commentary argued coaching choices should not put the roster at a disadvantage.
Prescott has not won against an opponent outside the division since last Thanksgiving.
Dallas also faces personnel issues in the secondary. Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke are projected to be sidelined for four weeks or more, while Malik Hooker might be available to return this week. The team said it would explore options at safety as those players rehabilitate. Injuries have affected the cornerbacks as well.
