The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defensive lineup by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility regulations that permit players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract, to receive an extra season of eligibility.
Rowser played nine games for the Campbell Camels during his freshman year without redshirting. He also attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign a professional contract. His collegiate experience includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 through 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated a total of 295 tackles, which includes 8.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He has also recorded two interceptions, defended 16 passes, forced one fumble, and recovered two fumbles.
In the 2025 season, he played in all games for Arizona State, achieving a personal best of 84 tackles, along with four tackles for loss and three passes defended, earning a place on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a strong safety lineup, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who had 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They have also recently signed Tulane safety Javion White, who recorded 50 tackles last season. With Rowser's addition, the Cougars may explore adjustments to their lineup, possibly shifting one safety to the nickel corner position.
