The University of Houston has recognized offensive guard Shadre Hurst as a member of the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This announcement was made public on Tuesday, underscoring Hurst's outstanding contributions to the football program.

Earlier this month, Hurst was also named to the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. He has previously worked with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi during their time at Tulane, where he earned All-American honors and accolades in The American Conference.

Hurst has shown remarkable performance on the field, holding an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has allowed only one sack over more than 1,200 passing snaps, demonstrating his reliability.

In 2025, he was acknowledged as the top-rated offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and was ranked sixth among guards nationally by Pro Football Focus. During his time at Tulane, Hurst played a significant role in winning three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, maintaining an impressive record of just one sack allowed throughout his four seasons.

The Cougars will kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
