Houston Texans Make Roster Cuts Ahead of Season Opener Against Bills

The Houston Texans have waived 22 players as they finalize their roster for the new season.

The Houston Texans have made significant roster adjustments as they prepare for their season opener against the Buffalo Bills. A total of 22 players have been waived, including prominent figures like wide receiver Zay Jones and quarterback Brett Rypien.

Among those released are defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from Tennessee and wide receiver Lewis Bond from Boston College. Linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both of whom have notable league experience, were also let go. Additionally, cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum have been released.

The Texans have traded center/guard Jarrett Patterson to the San Francisco 49ers while acquiring tackle Nathan Thomas from the Dallas Cowboys. Several players have been placed on the Reserve/Injured list, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, who are both eligible to return. Defensive end Ali Gaye is also on the Reserve/Injured list, and linebacker E.J.

Speed has been placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. These changes are part of the Texans' preparations for their matchup at Reliant Stadium, where they will face the Bills.
