Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte held a press conference to discuss his recent trade from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans. This event occurred a week after the trade, where Boutte shared his thoughts on joining the Texans and the circumstances that led to his departure from New England.
Boutte had sought a trade during the offseason, expressing a desire for a more significant role on the team. The signing of Romeo Doubs to a four-year deal valued at $68 million and the acquisition of A.J. Brown through a trade involving first- and fifth-round draft picks changed the dynamics within the Patriots' wide receiver lineup.
As a result, Boutte found himself ranked as the fourth wide receiver in training camp, behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Despite a successful 2024 season in which he recorded 42 catches for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, Boutte faced the possibility of not being active on game days, as indicated by head coach Mike Vrabel after the preseason finale. Boutte responded to these remarks, stating he did not view them negatively and preferred to concentrate on his future with the Texans.
