Kevin Jennings, the quarterback for the SMU Mustangs, is reportedly ready to participate in the upcoming season opener against the Florida State Seminoles. This comes after he suffered a finger injury earlier this month when it was caught in a locker room door during fall camp.
Head coach Rhett Lashlee expressed optimism regarding Jennings' recovery, noting that the redshirt senior has resumed throwing and is not experiencing any pain. Lashlee mentioned that Jennings will have a complete two weeks to prepare for the game, with expectations for him to be fully fit by kickoff.
Lashlee provided an update on Jennings, stating that his recovery is progressing positively, and they are reintegrating him into practice this week. Jennings' return is considered crucial for SMU's performance this season. Last year, he recorded impressive statistics, achieving 3,641 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and a completion rate of 66.1%.
However, he also led the ACC with 13 interceptions, indicating an area for growth as he readies for the new season.
