The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte confirmed the move on social media prior to any official announcements from the teams involved. Reports indicate that the Texans traded safety Jaylen Reed along with a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to New England for Boutte.
This trade follows an injury to Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL in a practice session with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside standout receiver Nico Collins. Last season, he achieved 41 receptions, totaling 525 yards and six touchdowns during his rookie year.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a successful previous season with 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an abundance of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year contract worth $68 million in March.
To further bolster their roster in light of Higgins' injury, the Texans also added veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend. Details regarding the Texans' strategy for the upcoming season remain unclear.
