The Houston Texans have re-signed Dare Ogunbowale to the 53-man roster after his brief stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. The move gives Houston four running backs before Week 4, with the Texans preparing to play host to the Dallas Cowboys.
Ogunbowale was with Houston from the 2022 through 2025 seasons and appeared in more than 60 games. He mainly contributed on special teams, totaling 91 rushing attempts for 295 yards and three touchdowns. He was also a Texans captain last season and logged more than 1,000 special-teams snaps during his four prior seasons with the club.
David Montgomery and Woody Marks are expected to receive most of the offensive work at the position. British Brooks may also remain ahead of Ogunbowale in the weekly rotation, limiting the returning veteran’s immediate offensive role. The report did not identify the reason for the signing.
It cited possible injury protection or a need for experienced special-teams depth, while Week 4 injury information was not expected until after Wednesday’s practice. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has repeatedly praised Ogunbowale, and Sports Illustrated described the move as adding leadership and special-teams experience.
