Nico Collins was not visible during the media-access portion of Houston’s Wednesday practice, marking his third consecutive missed session. The wide receiver suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain before the Texans faced Cincinnati in Week 2 and did not play in that game. His status for the Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts remains unresolved.
SI.com reported that he could instead come back in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Houston was also without tight end Dalton Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney during the reporters’ viewing period. No additional information was provided about those players.
The Texans are 0-2 entering Week 3. Without Collins against Indianapolis, Houston’s other receivers would be expected to take on more work, and offensive coordinator Nick Caley would need to plan for another game without the team’s top wideout. In the Cincinnati game, Schultz had 12 catches totaling 140 yards.
No Houston wide receiver recorded more than three receptions or 40 yards, while Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel totaled seven catches together.
