The Houston Texans have made roster adjustments after injuries occurred in their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Graham Mertz has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list due to a knee injury that has been confirmed as season-ending by an MRI. Rookie running back Joshua Pitsenberger has also been added to the injured reserve following an ankle injury sustained late in the game.

Mertz's injury happened shortly before halftime, compounding the Texans' existing injury issues. Pitsenberger was hurt just before the game concluded, further complicating the team's situation as they work through their preseason roster.

In addition to Mertz and Pitsenberger, the Texans' injury report includes players such as Ja'Marcus Ingram, who has a shoulder issue, Collin Wright with a soft tissue strain, and Jake Hansen, who is dealing with an ankle injury. Despite these challenges, the Texans have largely maintained their starting lineup, aside from linebacker E.J. Speed, who was injured earlier in the offseason.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans and his coaching staff will be closely examining their options as they prepare for additional roster changes throughout training camp. The team is focused on ensuring depth and performance as they advance through the preseason.
