Cole Hutson can potentially return to the field for Texas after Judge Maria Cantu Hexel of Austin's 53rd District Court issued a temporary injunction, according to sports.yahoo.com, citing Chip Brown of Horns247. The order followed Hutson's ineligibility ahead of Texas' Week 2 matchup with Ohio State.
His playing status remains unresolved, including for Texas' SEC opener against Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday. The decision came shortly before that game, and it is not known when Hutson will appear. Coach Steve Sarkisian, who said Sept. 7 that Hutson's situation involved a separate NCAA matter still under review, was scheduled to speak with local media Thursday and could offer an update.
Texas has continued using Oregon State transfer Dylan Sikorski at left guard. He won the starting job even though Western Kentucky transfer Laurence Seymore had been expected to take it during fall camp. Quarterback Arch Manning said during camp that Hutson's return to the team caught him off guard and that he was glad to have him back.
Guard Brandon Baker said Hutson had provided leadership in the locker room and performed well during camp.
