Quarterback DJ Lagway has made the decision to transfer to Baylor after facing challenges during his time at the University of Florida. Lagway, who was highly rated as the No. 3 player in his class, began his journey at Florida with the expectation of succeeding Graham Mertz.

Following Mertz's injury in the sixth game, Lagway took over as the starter, leading the Gators to a 5-1 record in the last six games, which included wins against ranked opponents.

However, Lagway's second season did not go as planned. He encountered injuries and difficulties, including a loss to South Florida, which marked Florida's first defeat against the Bulls. A particularly tough game against LSU, where Lagway threw five interceptions, contributed to Florida's overall disappointing record of 4-8, resulting in the dismissal of head coach Billy Napier.

After entering the Transfer Portal, Lagway has now joined Baylor, where he will play under head coach Dave Aranda. Tim Tebow, a former Florida quarterback, expressed that Lagway needed a new environment to succeed and believes that this change will help him perform better.

Lagway's debut game for Baylor will be against Auburn, a significant match for both him and Coach Aranda as they aim to improve from last season's performance.
