Baylor University has announced that Gao Duanrui will join its women's tennis team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano expressed his excitement about the addition, noting Duanrui's strong work ethic, mental resilience, and commitment to growth.
Duanrui, from Tianjin, China, has reached career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the WTA tour. Throughout her career, she has achieved 52 singles wins, including significant victories at the M15 Tianjin in 2026 and the W15 Luan and Maanshan tournaments in 2025.
In doubles, she has made it to the quarterfinals five times, with appearances at the W15 Tianjin and three draws at the W15 Luan, along with a quarterfinal finish at the W15 Maanshan in 2025.
The Baylor women's tennis team finished the 2025 season with a ranking of No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team standings, marking their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 19th journey to the second round. The season also included four selections to the All-Big 12 team, three victories over ranked opponents, and two players qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
