DeGrom's Masterclass
Jacob deGrom was nearly untouchable on Tuesday, delivering a standout pitching performance that set the tone for the Texas Rangers' victory. The Rangers starter worked seven innings, allowing just one hit and zero earned runs while striking out eight batters. He issued no walks, showcasing complete command of the game from the outset.
Robby Ahlstrom provided perfect relief in the eighth inning, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts. Ben Peoples pitched the ninth, allowing two hits and one earned run but preserving the final margin.
Oakland's Early Surge
The Athletics struck first, building a commanding lead before deGrom took full control. The scoring began in the second inning when Nimmo scored on a groundout by Díaz. Freeman followed with a single that plated Burger, extending the advantage.
Nimmo added another run in the third with a single that allowed Seager to score. The lead grew in the fourth when Foscue hit a 417-foot home run to left center, making it 4-0.
Oakland continued its offensive output in the fifth inning. Nimmo hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring Duran home, then Burger singled to allow Seager to score. Carter grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Langford, pushing the tally to 7-0 before deGrom retired the side.
