Brandon Nimmo delivered a dominant offensive performance as the Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland Athletics 8-5 at Globe Life Field. The Rangers’ victory was anchored by Nimmo, who collected four hits and drove in five runs, providing the critical offense needed to secure the win.
Scoring Breakdown
The game began with the Rangers taking an early lead in the first inning. Nimmo doubled to left field, allowing Seager to score for a 1-0 advantage. The Athletics answered in the third inning when Butler singled to center, scoring Gelof to tie the game at 1-1.
However, Texas regained control later in the third as Nimmo singled to right, bringing Seager home again to make it 2-1.
The fifth inning proved pivotal for the Rangers’ offense. Nimmo singled to right, allowing Pederson and Seager to score, extending the lead to 4-1. Duran followed by grounding out to second, which allowed Langford to score, pushing the margin to 5-1. The Rangers added another run in the sixth inning when O’Hoppe hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Carter.
Oakland began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the sixth. Seager hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Díaz, followed by Nimmo’s single that scored Langford, making it 7-2. The Athletics managed two more runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Stefanic singled to right, scoring Gelof, and Butler later hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Cortes, bringing the score to 8-3.
