Seager Ignites Rangers Offense

The Texas Rangers dismantled the Chicago White Sox 11-2 at Rate Field on Monday, August 24, to improve their record to 66-66. The decisive moment came in the third inning when Corey Seager doubled to center field, driving in both Tyler Freeman and Luis Díaz to extend the visitor's lead to 5-2.

Seager’s performance was central to the Rangers' dominant offensive display, which included three home runs and a total of 11 runs.

The game unfolded with early pressure from the away team. In the first inning, a ground ball by Duran resulted in a fielder’s choice that scored Pederson, followed shortly by Carter’s double that brought in Langford. The Rangers added another run in the second inning on an infield single by Duran that allowed Seager to score.

The White Sox responded in the bottom of the second when Peters hit a 372-foot home run to right field, bringing in B. Montgomery to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Late Inning Surges

The Rangers reasserted control in the fifth inning. Burger hit a 412-foot home run to center field, and Seager followed with another double to center that scored Foscue. The offensive barrage continued in the sixth inning when Burger’s double to center brought in Carter, though Burger was out stretching at third.

In the eighth inning, a walk to Burger led to Duran scoring on a wild pitch by Richards. The final blow came in the ninth inning, as Langford hit a 368-foot home run to left center field, scoring Lopez and sealing the 11-2 victory.

Pitching Matchup

Kumar Rocker earned the win for the Rangers, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs on three walks and eight strikeouts. He was followed by Robby Ahlstrom, who pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout, and Jordan Montgomery, who retired two batters over two innings with two strikeouts and no hits or earned runs.

For the White Sox, Jose Urquidy took the loss after pitching three innings. He allowed six hits and five earned runs on four walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Schweitzer, Huascar Brazoban, Trevor Richards, and Luisangel Acuna also appeared in relief for Chicago. The attendance at the game was 11,471.
