Greene Provides Early Spark
Jake Greene provided the only offense Detroit needed, launching a two-run home run in the first inning to set the tone for the Tigers' shutout victory. The blast traveled 386 feet to right field, giving Detroit an early 2-0 lead over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field.
The Tigers extended their advantage in the second inning when Keith scored on a groundout by Malgeri to shortstop, making it 3-0. That would be the final run for Detroit, as the Rangers' offense was unable to generate any momentum against the combined Detroit pitching effort.
Pitching Dominance Defines Game
Jack Flaherty earned the win for Detroit, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing just three hits while striking out five batters. He did not allow an earned run, setting the foundation for the shutout.
Tyler Holton contributed 0.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out zero batters but maintaining the shutout. Keider Montero closed out the game with 3.0 innings of work, earning the save with one walk and no earned runs allowed.
For Texas, Cal Quantrill took the loss, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits. He struck out two batters but could not prevent the Tigers from building an insurmountable lead.
