Part of downtown Van Alstyne will be without electricity overnight next Tuesday while crews begin putting overhead power and internet lines underground along Marshall and Main streets, KTEN reported Wednesday.

The outage is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, for the homes and businesses inside the affected area, with power expected back by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. KTEN published a map outlining the blocks involved.

Streets closed during the work

These downtown streets and alleys are to close while crews work:

  • Alley Court, from Preston Avenue to Aztec Alley
  • Aztec Alley, from Jefferson Street to Fulton Street
  • Marshall Street, from Preston Avenue to Main Drive
  • Fulton Street, from Preston Avenue to Main Drive
  • Main Drive, from north of Marshall Street to Fulton Street

The same roads and alleys will close again starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, when crews take down the old overhead power lines, according to the station.

The report did not say whether a second outage is planned that night or which utility is doing the work. City Hall is at 152 N. Main Drive and can be reached at 903-482-5426.
