Van Alstyne, Texas — The Texas Longhorns received a major Fourth of July boost when Gilmer offensive tackle Ismael Camara announced his commitment to the program. The consensus five-star prospect is the No. 20 overall recruit and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2027 class.

The pledge gives Texas its 22nd commitment in the 2027 cycle and its fifth offensive lineman, adding to a class that ranks No. 4 nationally under position coach Kyle Flood. Camara projects as the final offensive line take for the Longhorns in this recruiting cycle.

Despite limited varsity experience, Camara earned his five-star rating through prototypical size, athleticism, and strength. He played left tackle, along the defensive line, and on special teams for Gilmer in 2025 and is expected to take on an expanded role as a senior this fall.

Van Alstyne, in Grayson and Collin counties, is in North Texas where Texas Longhorns recruiting is followed closely.
