Van Alstyne ISD's annual Fall Festival remains on the calendar for Saturday afternoon, though district officials have said they are keeping an eye on a wet forecast and may adjust plans.
The festival runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Van Alstyne Junior High parking lot. The district bills it as an afternoon of food and family activities, and a silent auction will run from 3 to 6 p.m. Bidders can pay with cash, card or check.
Restrooms will be open at Panther Stadium, and the stadium ticket booth has moved to the visitors' entrance.
Weather decision pending
In a Wednesday update, the district said the event was still going forward and that it would wait until the end of the week before deciding on any weather-related changes. Officials said they would share any adjustment as soon as it is made.
The National Weather Service forecast for the Van Alstyne area on Friday morning called for showers and thunderstorms likely on Saturday before 4 p.m., a 60% chance of rain, and a slight chance of storms after that, with a high near 74. Forecasters expect a quarter to half an inch of new rain.
