First Quarter Dominance
The Dallas Mavericks established control immediately, exploding for 44 points in the opening period while holding the Indiana Pacers to just 27. This decisive burst created a cushion that proved insurmountable for the home team, ultimately securing a 121-105 victory at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday.
Dallas jumped out to an early lead, with key contributions from Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg. Irving opened the scoring account with a three-point jumper assisted by Daniel Gafford, followed by driving layups and another deep shot later in the quarter. Flagg added significant offense with multiple three-pointers and free throws, helping the Mavericks build a 19-point advantage before the second quarter began.
Half-Time Control
Dallas maintained its offensive efficiency through the second period, outscoring Indiana 33-16 to take a commanding lead into halftime. The Mavericks’ defense tightened significantly, forcing turnovers and limiting Indiana’s scoring opportunities. P.J. Washington contributed with a three-pointer and free throws, while Naji Marshall added points inside the paint.
Irving continued to be a focal point for Dallas, adding a driving floater and free throws in the second quarter. The Mavericks’ bench also provided energy, with Zaccharie Risacher scoring inside and Morez Johnson Jr. contributing off the bench. Indiana struggled to find rhythm against Dallas’s defensive pressure, managing only 13 points from their starters aside from Pascal Siakam.
Second Half Effort Falls Short
The Pacers attempted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Dallas 33-21. Tyrese Haliburton led Indiana’s offensive push with several scoring plays, including jumpers and layups. Pascal Siakam also found success, adding points and assists for Indiana. However, the Mavericks responded with timely baskets from Kyrie Irving and P.J. Washington, keeping their lead intact despite Indiana’s surge.
