The new Paramount+ series "Dutton Ranch," a sequel to "Yellowstone," was filmed across seven locations in North Texas, including Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, and Mineral Wells, along with Dallas.
The production took place between August 2025 and March 2026, depicting a fictional town called Rio Paloma while showcasing the ranch landscapes of Parker, Wise, and Johnson counties, rather than the Rio Grande Valley.
The series premiered on May 15, 2026, with its first two episodes, and continued weekly for a total of nine episodes, concluding on July 3. It achieved a record 12.9 million global viewers in its opening week, marking the largest launch for an original series on Paramount+.
Additionally, the two-episode premiere garnered 2.9 million viewers on the Paramount Network, the highest for a cable series since 2023.
The cast features Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth and Rip, alongside Finn Little, Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, and others. Created by Chad Feehan, the series has already been renewed for a second season, although a release date has not yet been announced.
Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program played a role in attracting such productions, providing financial support based on local spending, benefiting nearby businesses and services.
