Van Alstyne, Texas — FC Dallas has acquired goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes, giving the club an additional experienced option for the second half of the MLS season.

San Jose signed goalkeeper Angus Gunn before completing Daniel’s move to Dallas. The transaction is a roster development, not a game recap.

San Jose receives up to $1 million in General Allocation Money. The package includes $700,000 that is guaranteed and $300,000 that is conditional, according to MLS and Field Level Media.

MLS reported that Daniel has 15 clean sheets in 86 all-competitions appearances since becoming San Jose’s first-choice keeper in 2023. The 32-year-old holds a U.S. green card, so Dallas does not use an international roster position on him.

FC Dallas plays home matches in Frisco, around 35 miles south of Van Alstyne.

André Zanotta, FC Dallas’ chief soccer officer, said Daniel understands the league and will compete within the goalkeeper group. Homegrown keeper Michael Collodi had three shutouts in 13 starts this season.
