Texas Tech University has locked in Texas State as its opponent for the 2030 season, completing the Red Raiders' non-conference slate with a home contest on September 14. The agreement requires Texas Tech to pay the Bobcats a guarantee of $1.2 million, according to contract details obtained via an open-records request and reported by FBSchedules.com.

The team will begin that year with a trip to Las Vegas on August 31 to face Arkansas, followed by a home match against Fresno State one week before the Texas State game. While the 2030 slot is filled, the program still needs to secure non-conference opponents for 2027, 2028, and 2029.

These gaps follow recent cancellations, including Mississippi State ending a two-game series for 2028 and 2029 due to SEC scheduling changes, North Carolina State buying out a 2027 Lubbock game, and Texas Tech purchasing its way out of a 2027 road trip to North Texas.

The university currently holds two non-conference home games scheduled for each of the years 2027 through 2029, with financial guarantees ranging from $300,000 to $1 million.

Other long-term adjustments include moving a home game against Arkansas to 2034 after the schools agreed to play in the Vegas Kickoff Classic instead, and shifting a road game at Oregon from 2024 to 2033 to preserve the rivalry matchup between Oregon and Oregon State.
