Baylor University has announced that quarterback DJ Lagway is day-to-day due to an ankle injury. Head coach Dave Aranda expressed optimism about Lagway's potential return for the team's next match against Prairie View A&M.

Lagway suffered the injury during a close 17-16 loss to Auburn in the season opener. He played the entire game despite the injury and effectively directed the offense, though his movement was somewhat restricted. In his first game with Baylor, Lagway completed 27 passes out of 54 attempts, totaling 333 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.

He played a pivotal role in a late-game comeback, overcoming a 17-10 deficit. Lagway made a crucial 28-yard pass to Gavin Freeman on a fourth-and-10 play, followed by a 27-yard completion to Jadon Porter, which brought the Bears to the Auburn 5-yard line. He finished the drive with a touchdown pass to Freeman just before the game concluded.

Updates on Lagway's recovery are anticipated after practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday as the team continues to assess his condition.
