Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino is out for the remainder of the season after hurting his leg Saturday against Prairie View A&M. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed the injury after the game. Safety Jacob Redding also has been identified as having a season-ending injury, leaving Baylor with two starters unavailable for the year.
Tezino was hurt during Baylor’s second offensive snap of the game, when a Prairie View A&M lineman delivered a cut block. He called for medical assistance and was eventually taken away from the field in a cart. SicEm365 reported the injury and Aranda’s comments.
The fifth-year senior from Killeen began the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that became an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career before the injury. Tezino had injuries last fall but played in all 12 games, starting seven.
He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup that season. Across 29 games at Baylor, he has 56 tackles. Baylor has depth on its defensive line.
