Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s matchup with Louisiana Tech while recovering from an ankle injury, according to a report from On3 Sports. The report says Lagway is progressing toward the Bears’ Big 12 opener against Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders on Sept. 26, but it does not establish that he will play.

Lagway was injured in Baylor’s season-opening 17-16 defeat against Auburn. Sources told On3 Sports he sustained a high-ankle sprain. Earlier in the week, Baylor coach Dave Aranda characterized the junior quarterback’s status as day-to-day.

Baylor won its following game 44-3 over Prairie View without Lagway. Louisiana Tech is next on the schedule, followed by the Colorado conference opener. ClutchPoints reported that the timetable for Lagway’s return remains unclear, beyond the indication that he is making progress toward the Sept. 26 game.
