The Dallas Cowboys reportedly added Tyler Goodson on Tuesday after backup running back Malik Davis sustained a hip injury requiring surgery. Davis will miss the rest of the season, and the move gives Dallas another option in its changing backfield.
Goodson spent the last three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, appearing in 33 games. He carried 54 times for 264 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt, and played 304 special teams snaps over the previous two seasons. That work could help replace Davis’ role on special teams.
Emari Demercado took over as Dallas’ No. 2 running back against the Giants, carrying twice for 7 yards behind Javonte Williams. Williams had 12 of the Cowboys’ 18 rushing attempts and added five receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Goodson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Green Bay in 2023. After the Packers released him, he joined Indianapolis, Atlanta’s training camp and later Atlanta’s practice squad before Dallas signed him.
