Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured thumb. The 25-year-old player is expected to be unavailable for a period of four to six weeks and may soon be placed on injured reserve.

In his absence, T.J. Bass is anticipated to step in as the starting left guard for the Cowboys as they prepare for the upcoming regular season.
