Dallas Cowboys safety P.J. Locke was injured during the team's home opener against the Washington Commanders, adding to a defensive unit already without Malik Hooker. Hooker had been ruled out because of a forearm injury.
Locke was moving into position for a tackle when a FOX replay appeared to show him begin limping before contact occurred. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room without assistance. The injury happened during Washington's opening possession.
Dallas signed Locke to a one-year contract worth $4 million during the offseason. The safety spent his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos, and the game was his second appearance for the Cowboys. He made two tackles in Dallas' season-opening loss to the New York Giants.
