Houston has expanded the 2026 playtime incentives in Trent Brown’s contract, increasing the package’s maximum from $1.5 million to $2.5 million. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti detailed the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
The new deal adds five $500,000 bonuses tied to playing-time levels of 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the change did not alter Brown’s salary-cap charge or initial cash flow. The added incentives were placed on top of the original package.
Houston re-signed Brown during the 2026 offseason to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. He started seven regular-season games and one playoff game for the Texans in 2025, with injuries affecting the start and finish of his season. Brown stayed with the team through the offseason program and opened Week 1 as the starting right tackle.
Brown has not started every regular-season game in a season since 2022, when he played for the New England Patriots. The 2015 seventh-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Las Vegas Raiders, starting 104 of 111 career games.
He won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, when Texans general manager Nick Caserio was an executive there.
