Baylor's athletic director, Doug McNamee, has not specified a win total that head coach Dave Aranda must achieve to keep his job beyond the 2026 season. Instead, McNamee highlighted the significance of revitalizing the football program and building broader support among fans.

In comments reported by CBS Sports, McNamee remarked that the focus should not solely be on numerical outcomes but rather on the overall momentum and atmosphere surrounding the program. He indicated that as Aranda enters his seventh season, the need for a competitive edge in the Big 12 and the ability to adapt to evolving name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities are crucial.

McNamee also called for greater engagement from supporters, urging them to attend games and invest in NIL initiatives and scholarships. He emphasized the need for a more substantial commitment, stating that support could range from simply watching games to making significant financial contributions.

Aranda's record at Baylor currently stands at 36-37, following a successful 2021 season that included a Big 12 championship. However, the team has faced challenges since then, with a 22-28 record over the past four years, including a disappointing 5-7 finish in 2025.

McNamee, who took over the athletic department in December, will evaluate Aranda's performance in 2026, with the upcoming season set to begin on September 5 against Auburn.
