Gabriel Brooks announced Sept. 17 that he had committed to TCU for the 2027 recruiting class, changing his pledge from Stephen F. Austin. He said family conversations and prayer guided the decision, which he characterized as a way to stay near home.

Brooks, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive tackle, had mainly been recruited by Football Championship Subdivision schools. His offers included SFA and Southern University. TCU became his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer, and Brooks selected the chance to play in a Power Four league with the Horned Frogs.

North Crowley began the season 3-0 with victories over Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. The Panthers are set to visit Duncanville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Brooks is the 19th commitment in TCU's 2027 group. Sports.yahoo.com reported that the class stands 54th nationally and eighth in the Big 12.
