The Houston Texans are facing a significant challenge as they gear up for the 2026 NFL season, particularly after wide receiver Jayden Higgins was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his injury has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, especially since other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also nursing injuries.

In light of this situation, the Texans are reportedly considering options in free agency, with a focus on veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a productive 2023 season, recording 40 catches for 608 yards and five touchdowns.

Zay Jones, known for his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, had a standout 2022 season with 82 receptions for 823 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite facing challenges in recent years, both Reynolds and Jones are being evaluated as potential additions to strengthen the Texans' receiving lineup. The team is reportedly conducting workouts for free agent receivers, as noted by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, and both Reynolds and Jones are under consideration as the team addresses its current roster needs.

With Higgins out for the season, the Texans may lean heavily on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to support star receiver Nico Collins. The team's interest in Reynolds and Jones indicates a desire for experienced players to enhance their offensive capabilities, although further details on potential signings remain unclear.
