The Houston Texans will face the Cincinnati Bengals without Nico Collins, who has been ruled out with a Grade 1 hamstring injury. The wide receiver was hurt during Wednesday’s practice and missed Houston’s final two workouts before being listed out on the team’s last injury report.
Houston is expected to spread Collins’ role among several players. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel could see increased chances, while Jayden Higgins is unavailable because of a season-ending ACL injury. C.J. Stroud completed passes to 11 players in the season opener, giving the Texans multiple receiving options as they pursue their first victory.
Collins opened the season with seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s 36-31 defeat by Buffalo. He has been one of the team’s more productive offensive players during the last three seasons. His availability for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined.
Aaron Wilson reported that Collins’ status is still being assessed, and no additional information about his return was provided.
