Fifth-Inning Surge Defines Win
The Texas Rangers broke open a tight contest with a six-run explosion in the fifth inning, overwhelming the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Saturday. The offensive outburst, fueled by key hits from Josh Jung and Jonah Heim, turned a one-run game into a decisive victory.
Jung started the rally with a single to left field in the bottom of the fifth, driving in the Rangers' second run to make it 2-0. He remained on base, and the pressure mounted. Osuna followed with a single to center, scoring Jung and advancing Nimmo to second. The inning continued to unravel for Toronto as Osuna scored on a double by Díaz to the right field, extending the lead to 6-0. The Blue Jays managed to stop the bleeding slightly in the sixth, but the damage was done.
Home Runs Provide Spark
While the five-run fifth inning was the turning point, home runs from Seager and Pinango provided critical momentum. Seager launched a solo shot to right-center field in the sixth inning, his 391-foot blast making the score 7-2. Earlier, Pinango had homered to right-center (415 feet) in the fifth, scoring Clement and cutting the deficit to 6-2.
The Blue Jays attempted a comeback in the sixth. Kirk hit a home run to left (409 feet) to make it 7-3, and Giménez singled to right, scoring Keys for the final run of the game. However, the Rangers' bullpen held firm to preserve the win.
