Decisive Fourth Quarter
Texas Tech proved its resilience on Saturday, overcoming a late deficit to defeat the host Oregon State Beavers 35-24 at Reser Stadium. The Red Raiders (2-0) secured their second consecutive victory with a flurry of scoring in the final period, while the Beavers (0-2) saw their homecoming hopes fade after trailing for most of the contest.
Second Half Momentum Shift
Oregon State entered the third quarter with momentum, cutting Tech’s lead to 14-7 before halftime. However, Texas Tech responded immediately in the second half. Cameron Dickey ran for a touchdown to make it 14-7, and J’Koby Williams added another rushing score later in the period, extending the lead to 21-13.
The Beavers fought back, with Braden Atkinson connecting with Jesse Legree on a 37-yard pass. Atkinson successfully converted a two-point attempt to tie the game at 21-21 late in the third quarter. Caleb Ojeda then kicked a 34-yard field goal to give Oregon State a brief 24-21 advantage early in the fourth quarter.
Red Raiders Take Control
Texas Tech regained control with two quick touchdowns in the final period. Will Hammond threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Coy Eakin, putting the Red Raiders ahead for good at 28-24. The victory was sealed when Thomas Castellanos threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Matt Ludwig, making the final score 35-24.
