Construction has commenced on the Lone Tree development in Van Alstyne, a project that will add hundreds of new homes to the area. A central component of the build-out is a new city park designed to serve both future residents and the broader community.
The park is planned to occupy between nine and 10 acres. Recreational facilities included in the design feature a full-sized soccer field and pickleball courts equipped with lighting. Additional amenities will consist of a dog park, walking trails, a playground, and open green space.
Rob McClain, Vice President of Land Development for Jabez Development, described the park as an anchor for the neighborhood. "It's going to be kind of an anchor to the neighborhood for us and our residents, but within walking distance," McClain said.
He noted that the facilities are intended to be a benefit for those living in the development as well as for the city at large.
